Saša Uhlová

Saša studied Romani Studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague. After her studies she worked in anthropological field research in socially excluded localities. For four years she was a teacher at the Roma Social School in Kolín. From November 2009 to December 2016, she was an editor of the daily newspaper Denník Referendum. In 2011 she worked as editor of Romano vodi newspaper. She received the Honorable Mention in the 2015 Journalist Award. At the beginning of 2017 she became an editor of the A2larm Internet journal.

We invited Saša because in 2017 she was employed under a changed identity as an employee or temporary worker in various low-income jobs. The goal of this project, supported by the Foundation of Independent Journalism, was to map the working conditions of low-qualified and low-income people in Czech companies. She has written a series of articles about her experience that have received international acclaim.
